Below are the instructions for opening a Step Up Time Deposit.

About “Personal Profiling for Investment and Foreign Currency Deposits (Personal Profiling)”

Have you completed your “Personal Profiling”?

In order to offer more suitable products, Citibank requests customers to answer a questionnaire on your knowledge, experience and purpose about investment, total financial assets, annual income etc to calculate your ‘Risk Score’ .

* If your Risk Score doesn’t meet this product’s Risk Level, purchase of this product cannot be conducted.
* Your answers to Personal Profiling will be valid for 1 year. Please retake the Personal Profiling questionnaire if your score has expired.



Select Step Up Time Deposits menu and check product information

Click " Time Deposits / Structured Deposits" from the main menu on the left hand side of the screen and select "Step Up Time Deposits" below.

Select Currency

The following items will be displayed.

  • Currency
    Available currencies are denoted by three-letter abbreviations (USD=U.S. Dollars, etc.).
    View Currency Code Chart
  • Tier Minimum
    The tier minimum is the required minimum opening deposit for a Step Up Time Deposit.
  • Tenor
    2 years (fixed).
  • Interest rates for each tenor
    Annual pre-tax interest rates for each tenor (%).
*The fixed interest rates upon agreeing to open a Step Up Time Deposit will be applied for a two-year tenor until maturity, regardless of natural market interest rate fluctuations.

Select a currency and tenor from the chart.

Clicking on the currency for your selected currency will take you to the next page.

Enter Required Fields

The currency and interest rate you selected in Step 2 will be displayed in red.

Select an account from the list from which you would like your deposit taken.

Available accounts from which deposits may be debited will be shown. These accounts will be selected from the following accounts.

  • MultiMoney Yen Savings
  • MultiMoney Foreign Currency Savings

Enter the amount you would like to deposit.

Select a currency for your deposit from the list, then enter the amount, without commas, you would like to deposit in the box at the left. Only one-byte numbers must be used.

Example: When you would like to deposit 100,000 yen.

Enter the amount you would like to deposit.

Select your desired method for receipt of your interest at maturity from the list, then click on “Next.”

Confirm Details You Entered

Details you entered in Steps 2 and 3 will be displayed.

In case Cross Currency is used.

If you choose for deposits to be debited in a different currency from your MultiMoney Foreign Currency Savings, then this would be a Cross Currency transaction. In Cross Currency transactions, your deposit in the MultiMoney Foreign Currency Savings will be converted into Yen first, then the amount of money to be debited will be converted into the foreign currency you selected for the Step Up Time Deposit.

<Notice>Confirm your information and check the appropriate box, then click on “Execute Transaction.”

Confirmation after Transaction

Details of your Step Up Time Deposit will be displayed.

To open another Step Up Time Deposit, click on “Open Another Step Up Time Deposit.”

To view or print out your transaction record, click on “View Transaction Record.”
